On December 21, 2019, Liverpool won the Club World Cup, securing their first title in the competition. The victory came after Roberto Firmino scored an extra-time goal in the final against Flamengo.

The match took place at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha, Qatar, and was an intense contest between the two teams. Flamengo had been hoping to repeat their win over Liverpool in the 1981 Intercontinental Cup and become the first non-European winners of the Club World Cup since Corinthians beat Chelsea in 2012.

However, Liverpool's determination and skill ultimately paid off, with Firmino scoring the winning goal in the 99th minute of the match. The goal was set up by Sadio Mane, who picked out Firmino with a precise pass after being pushed wide of goal by Rafinha.

The win marked a significant achievement for Liverpool, who had already secured the Champions League and UEFA Supercup titles earlier in the year. With this victory, they completed a fabulous year with a third piece of silverware, cementing their status as one of the top teams in the world.

Flamengo's coach, Jorge Jesus, praised Liverpool's performance, saying that they were a well-organized and skilled team. He also acknowledged that his team had given it their all, but ultimately came up short.
