Busia County made a strong impression at the Kenya Youth Inter-Counties Sports Association (KYISA) Games, winning three titles out of six possible. The championships, which took place over a week, concluded on a high note for the county.

On Friday, the Busia men's basketball team secured their first title by defeating Makueni 51-46 in the final match held at the Busia County basketball court. Meanwhile, Nakuru took third position after beating Turkana 44-34 in the playoffs.

On Saturday, Busia's ladies soccer team defied expectations to oust defending champions Kwale 1-0, with Maureen Okoth scoring the lone goal in the 29th minute of play. The team had qualified for the quarterfinals as the second-best losers but proved their critics wrong by beating Nyandarua 3-0 in the quarterfinals and Nakuru 2-1 in the semis.

Busia's third title came in the volleyball ladies category, where they rallied from a set down to beat Kakamega 3-1 (22-25, 25-16, 25-20, 25-15). Siaya took third place after beating Kwale 3-1.

However, the football match between Busia and Nakuru was abandoned in the 88th minute after Valentine Otieno scored from a rebound to draw 1-1 with defending champions Kakamega. The match was called off after police evacuated the players to safety due to fan celebrations.
