Kabras Sugar RFC secured a convincing 47-12 win over Menengai Oilers at the Bull Ring ground in Kakamega on December 21, 2019, to maintain their lead at the top of the Kenya Cup table.
Henley Du Plessis' charges scored seven tries, with Gibson Weru's team converting six. Eugene Sifuna scored a brace, while South African Mtabeni Dukisa, Paul Obuto, Uganda's Asuman Mugerrwa, Brian Tonya, and Fijian Jone Kobu added a try each for the win.
Menengai Oilers' Derrick Keyoga and Clinton Odhiambo scored two tries each, but it was not enough to overcome Kabras Sugar's dominance.
The match saw Kabras Sugar's Eugene Sifuna score the first try, with Mtabeni Dukisa converting it to make it 7-0. A defensive blunder by Menengai Oilers gifted Dukisa the ball, scoring between the posts and converting it to make it 14-0 in the 10th minute.
Paul Obuto claimed Kabras' third try, with Dukisa converting for a 21-0 lead. Asuman Mugerwa ensured Kabras got a bonus point in the 20th minute, scoring a try inside the posts and adding the extras for a 28-0 advantage.
Despite a shoulder injury to Hillary Odhiambo, Kabras Sugar continued to dominate, with Brian Tonya scoring a try and Fijian Jone Kubu converting to make it 35-0.
Eugene Sifuna scored his brace in the 36th minute, with spot-on Dukisa adding the extras to make it 42-0 at half-time. Kabras Sugar's dominance continued even after the break, with Fijian Jone Kubu scoring their seventh try three minutes after halftime.
Menengai Oilers pulled one back from winger Derrick Keyoga, with Amutali Wesonga adding the extras to make it 47-7. The Nakuru-based side scored their second try in the 70th minute through Clinton Odhiambo, but it was too little, too late, as Kabras Sugar secured a 47-12 win.
Despite being sin-binned for eight minutes, Kabras Sugar's Chartone Mokua was unable to prevent the win, and the match ended 47-12 at full time.
