Published on December 21, 2019, a shocking incident has left a community in Narok North reeling. A village elder, known for his wealth and influence, has been accused of eloping with his son's fiancée.
The girl, a Class Eight drop-out, had been introduced to the elder by his son, who had expressed his desire to settle down with her. However, the elder had other plans.
He allegedly began making passes at the girl, using threats, money, and smooth-talking to win her heart. The old man even convinced her to marry him instead of his son, claiming the young man had no money of his own and depended on him for daily needs.
At her wit's end, the girl reluctantly agreed, and the old man disappeared with her to Narok town, where they stayed at a lodging for days.
When confronted by a relative, the old man claimed the girl was the love of his life and that she would take care of him until he died. He also denied any wrongdoing, saying his son was too young and broke to keep a wife.
However, the young man was left shocked and disappointed by his father's actions, fearing being cursed by him. Local elders have taken up the matter, but it's proving to be a hard nut to crack, given the old man's influence and position as a village elder.
