December 20, 2019, marked a significant day for Modern Coast passengers as the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) announced the lifting of the suspension on the operating licence of its buses.
According to NTSA's head of communication, Dido Guyatu, the move allows all suspended Modern Coast buses to return to the road.
"This is to notify the members of the public that the suspension of Modern Coast Express Limited has been lifted," said Dido Guyatu, NTSA Head of Communications.
NTSA, however, did not disclose the details of the inspection of the 43 buses or the criteria used to clear the vehicles to resume normal operations.
Modern Coast, in a statement, apologized to their customers for the inconvenience caused and assured them of their safety and comfort being their top priority.
"We wish to apologize for the inconvenience caused to our passengers over the last few days and assure you that your safety and comfort is our number one priority," they said.
The suspension was lifted after two Modern Coast buses were involved in a tragic accident at Kiongwani on Mombasa road, leaving seven people dead and 62 others injured.
