President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga have named a new Committee of Experts (CoE) to present a fine-tuned report to the Garissa senator Yusuf Haji-led BBI taskforce.
The team, which includes ODM Executive director Oduor Ong'wen, Prof Larry Gumbe, Awour Achoka, and others, will hold town hall meetings across the country and analyze views on the BBI report.
Notably, allies of Deputy President William Ruto, Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi, and Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang'ula were excluded from the new team.
According to sources, Ruto had nominated former Kakamega Senator Bonnie Khalwale and former ICT Cabinet Secretary David Chirchir to join the new taskforce.
However, all the names forwarded by Ruto, Mudavadi, and Wetang'ula were missing when the new team was announced.
President Uhuru Kenyatta has extended the life of the Haji team to stem heightening disquiet and jostling by various political groups and organisations.
