On December 21, 2019, Kenyan musician King Kaka released a song called 'Wajinga Nyinyi' that sparked controversy and praise in equal measure. The song targeted corruption in the government, and many Kenyans rallied behind it.

Bahati, a gospel artist, faced backlash from his fans for showing solidarity with King Kaka by sharing the song. The reaction was intense, with some fans threatening to leave their relationships with Bahati.

However, Bahati's colleague and fellow musician Khaligraph Jones came to his defense on Citizen TV's JKL Show. Khaligraph stated that he too had hoped for change in the government during the general election period but felt let down.

Later, Khaligraph took to social media to demand payment from Bahati, saying he had defended him on national TV and was owed money. Khaligraph's tweet read: '@bahatikenya gathee Ebu Tuma mpesa juzi ilibidi Nimekutetea pale Kwa Jeff alafu kwa wale hawaelewi Ntaambia Citizen TV waeke Subtitles next time naenda interview uko tena, The OG shall be respected????'
