On Friday, Mwingi Law Courts witnessed the arraignment of two suspects in connection with the murder of Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) lecturer Eunice Kiema, which occurred on December 7, 2019.
The suspects, Jackson Nzagi Wambua and Mutie Kiema, were arrested two weeks prior in Mwingi town after the tutor was killed in her car near Mwingi livestock market.
Prosecution sought to detain the two for another seven days, claiming they needed more time to collect data from the phone of the first accused, Jackson Wambua.
However, Mwingi Law Courts Principal Magistrate Mogire Ogomba denied the prosecution any more time to hold the suspects, stating that the 15 days previously granted were sufficient to gather enough evidence.
The magistrate further directed the prosecution to either present the two before the High Court on Monday or release them if they lack sufficient evidence to charge them.
