The Mama Ngina Waterfront Park, a 460 million shillings project, is set to open its doors to the public on Monday, December 23, 2019, in Mombasa.

Coast Regional Commissioner John Elungata revealed plans to open the park, stating that security has been beefed up in and around the coastal town, which is a major tourist destination during Christmas festivities.

Elungata emphasized that as they expect a tourism boom, security patrols have been increased, and officers have been dispatched to ensure security.

Police have been deployed to key areas, including beaches, churches, and popular joints in the region, while traffic officers have been stationed strategically to deal with the expected surge in traffic.

Elungata warned motorists and pedestrians against flouting traffic laws, as the region prepares for the festive season.

The multi-million world-class waterfront Mama Ngina Drive Park is expected to attract over 1.5 million visitors during the December holidays, transforming Mombasa into a Waterfront Destination in the region.
