On December 19, 2019, Kenya's Harambee Stars suffered a 4-1 loss to Eritrea in the semi-finals of the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup, ending their title hopes and sparking widespread criticism.

The team's poor performance was a far cry from their 2017 title win, and fans were left questioning the commitment and mental attitude of the players.

Kenya's coach, Francis Kimanzi, had been suspended for two matches prior to the Eritrea match, but returned to the technical bench for the match against Tanzania.

The loss to Eritrea was a worrying sign for Kenya, which had also been bundled out of the qualifiers for the 2020 African Nations Championships (Chan) by Tanzania.

As Kenya prepares for its next matches in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, the team's coaches must put the Cecafa debacle behind them and focus on creating a good atmosphere to perform.
