December 20, 2019, marked a somber day for US radio, as a shocking comment from a presenter led to the cancellation of his show.

Chuck Bonniwell, a host on Colorado radio station 710 KNUS, made the disturbing comment during a broadcast of his show 'Chuck & Julie'.

According to local NBC affiliate KUSA, Bonniwell said, "You know, you wish for a nice school shooting to interrupt" the impeachment hearings, sparking outrage and swift action from the station.

His co-host quickly jumped in, attempting to downplay the comment, but it was too late. The damage was done, and the station issued a statement confirming the cancellation of the show.

"Given the history of school violence that has plagued our community, 710 KNUS confirms... a programming decision was made to end the program immediately," the statement read.

The cancellation comes amid a wave of student-led activism to change gun laws in the US, following a series of devastating school shootings, including the 1999 Columbine High School massacre in Colorado, the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Connecticut, and the 2018 Parkland, Florida, shooting.
