Deputy President Dr William Ruto will preside over the laying of the foundation stone of the William Ruto Leadership Institute at Makerere University in Uganda on Saturday, December 21, 2019.
The institute, which has been requested by Uganda President Yoweri Museveni to be hosted at Makerere University, aims to draw on the diversity of disciplines and experiences to develop and refine methodologies for the study of Africa.
According to a statement by Makerere University, the institute will also develop innovative approaches to teaching and learning about Africa and collaborate with similar institutes in Africa to deepen the understanding of the continent.
“Makerere University has been requested by the Office of the President of the Republic of Uganda to host The William Ruto Leadership Institute with the laying of the foundation stone slated for December 21,” read the statement.
Dr Ruto will be the chief guest at the ceremony, which is expected to enhance and enrich intellectual and cultural life.
A source from the Deputy President’s communication team confirmed that Ruto will be headed to Uganda for the event.
