On December 20, 2019, Busia women's basketball team made history by finishing second in the Kenya Youth Inter-County Sports Association (KYISA) games.

The team's impressive performance was capped off with a 50-41 win over Makueni in their last round-robin match at the Busia County Stadium.

Due to the low turnout of participating counties, the ladies' action was reduced to a round-robin format involving only three teams: Busia, Makueni, and Siaya.

Busia's back-to-back wins against Makueni, including a 50-41 victory in their final match, secured their second-place finish and earned them a trophy and prize money.

The team's achievement emulated that of their male counterparts, who finished in a similar position in Nandi County the previous year.

Siaya, the unbeaten champion, was set to face Makueni in the final match on Friday, but the outcome was already a foregone conclusion.

The Busia women's basketball team's impressive performance is a testament to their dedication and hard work.
