Menengai Oilers head coach Gibson Weru is confident that his team can beat Kabras Sugar in their upcoming match at the ASK showground in Kakamega.

Weru's team has won their last three matches against Kisumu RFC, Blak Blad, and Nondescripts with a margin of 57-18, 25-15, and 27-03 respectively.

“Any team is beatable but it is always hard to play away from home, it happened to Kabras last weekend when they lost to Homeboyz so for us is just to play according to our game plan and believe that any team is beatable,” Weru told Citizen Digital.

Weru also praised the level of competition in the league, saying it's a good league to play in.

Despite Kabras Sugar being at the top of the table with 35 points, Weru believes it's still early in the season and that consistency is key for his team.

Menengai Oilers are currently fifth in the Kenya Cup standings with 24 points, 11 points behind their opponents.

Weru's team finished eighth last season with 34 points, but he's optimistic about their chances this season.

Other fixtures this weekend include Mwamba RFC hosting Menengai Cream Homeboyz at the Railways ground in Nairobi, and Resolution Impala Saracens taking on Western Bulls at the Impala ground in Nairobi.

At the RFUEA ground, Nondescripts will welcome defending champions KCB RFC, while Blak Blad will battle it out with Kenya Harlequins at the Kenyatta University ground.

Lastly, Kisumu RFC will host Top Fry Nakuru at the Mamboleo ground in Kisumu in a bid to secure their first win of the season.
