Are you considering a career change due to slow internal promotion processes? Before making a decision, take a step back and evaluate your options carefully.

According to Seth Godin, author of The Dip: A Little Book That Teaches You When to Quit (and When to Stick), winners are often smarter quitters who quit strategically. However, quitting your job for frivolous reasons, such as a desire for more money or a row with your boss, is not a good idea.

Before quitting, consider whether your prospective job offers greater scope and rewards. Have you done your due diligence on your prospective employer, including their culture, leadership, performance outlook, and financial health?

It's also essential to assess your financial status and have a Plan B in place before quitting your current job. Consider how long you can hold your financial breath while searching for a new opportunity, and whether your career profile lends itself to the attention of recruiters.

Ultimately, quitting your job should be a well-thought-out decision, not an impulsive one. Take time to evaluate your options, speak to someone you trust, and make an independent decision that's right for you.
