Motorists in Nairobi are in for a long day on December 20 as heavy traffic is expected in the Central Business District due to graduation ceremonies at four top universities.

The universities of Nairobi, Kenyatta, Daystar, and Technical University of Kenya will hold their graduation ceremonies on the same day, causing a significant increase in traffic.

Among the roads expected to be badly affected are Thika Highway, Uhuru Highway, Waiyaki Way, University Way, Mbagathi Road, and Heile Sellaisie, among others.

The situation is expected to be worsened by the ongoing construction of a footbridge at Njomoko, which has resulted in the blockage of a section of Thika Road.

According to traffic updates, motorists are advised to find alternative routes in and out of the city to avoid the congestion.

It's worth noting that the universities have previously held their graduation ceremonies on different dates, but this year, fate has caused the inconvenience.
