Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has revealed that sacking Mauricio Pochettino was the hardest managerial decision he has ever made, a move that has sparked speculation about the Argentine's potential return to the club.
Levy made the admission in an interview with London's Evening Standard, where he spoke candidly about the circumstances surrounding Pochettino's departure in November.
"You have to understand I had built up a personal relationship with Mauricio over five-and-a-half years," Levy said. "It is not something I ever wanted. Personally, it was incredibly difficult, I told him that and he understood."
Levy's comments suggest that Pochettino's departure was not taken lightly, and that the chairman had developed a strong bond with the Argentine coach.
However, Levy has also left the door open for Pochettino's potential return to the club, stating that he does not close the door on anything.
"Why not?" Levy asked, when asked whether Pochettino could return to the club in the future.
Levy's decision to sack Pochettino was swift, with the Argentine coach being replaced by Jose Mourinho in less than 12 hours.
Despite the controversy surrounding Pochettino's departure, Levy has maintained that the decision was not connected to Mourinho's availability, and that the Portuguese coach was the club's number one choice.
