On December 20, 2019, the Kenyan Cabinet, chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta, approved the commercial farming of BT cotton hybrids following successful field trials.

The move aims to increase farmers' earnings through higher production and boost the manufacturing sector, particularly in the textile and apparel industry, as part of the Big 4 Agenda.

The Cabinet also approved the establishment of the New Kenya Planters Co-operative Union (KPCU) and the Coffee Cherry Advance Revolving Fund.

Additionally, the meeting approved the renaming of Moi Day to Huduma Day, in line with former President Daniel Arap Moi's desire to commemorate the day as a day of service and volunteerism.

Furthermore, the Cabinet approved the renaming of Boxing Day to Utamaduni Day, which will be celebrated to promote the country's rich cultural diversity and heritage.

The proposed amendments to the Public Holidays Act will take effect once approved by Parliament.

The Cabinet also discussed the issue of pending bills and established an inter-agency team to verify historical pending bills worth Sh40 billion within one month.

Moreover, the Cabinet approved the immediate implementation of the film incentives package to boost Kenya's position as the film destination of choice in Africa.
