Police in Nyakach, Kisumu County are probing allegations of repeated defilement of a 16-year-old mentally challenged boy by three women.

The boy's parents claim he had reported the abuse in late October, stating that the women had been forcing him to have sex with them as a way of payment for domestic work he did for them.

According to the boy's mother, Anyango, her son had admitted to being abused several times, including an incident where he was lured to be paid in kind after helping one of the women clear bushes and cut grass.

The boy's father claimed they immediately reported the matter to the area chief, but the government officer downplayed the matter until activists intervened.

Area chief Caleb Owako denied downplaying the matter, stating that he referred the defilement allegations to relevant people and was handling the case.

Children's Officer in Nyakach, John Wainaina, confirmed that the case was being handled and plans were underway to take the boy to a safe space as the case proceeds.

Police OCPD Jonathan Koech confirmed receiving reports of the alleged abuse and stated that they had all the evidence needed to arrest the suspects and arraign them.
