As the festive season gets underway, the Kenya Pipeline Company's (KPC) assurance of sufficient fuel stocks is a welcome relief to many.
With the holiday season comes increased travel, and a fuel shortage would be disastrous, throwing travel plans into disarray and allowing unscrupulous fuel dealers to take advantage of desperate consumers.
Transportation is the lifeblood of the economy, with goods and passengers relying on fuel to move around the country.
However, the KPC has stated that there is enough petrol, diesel, and jet fuel in the depots to last the country nearly 20 days, giving oil companies ample time to build up new stocks and ensure availability well into the next year.
With this assurance, there is no need for customers to stock up on supplies they do not need now.
Instead, the focus should be on road safety, with the police and public transport regulator working to enforce traffic rules and prevent accidents during the busy festive season.
