Published on December 19, 2019, a conversation on a popular radio show sparked a heated debate about the practice of sending fare money to men by women.

The phrase 'tuma fare' or 'send money for fare' has become a common term among Nairobi's social scene, where women ask men to send them money for transportation before meeting up.

However, some women have confessed to misusing this money for personal expenses, leading to the emergence of the phrase 'wanawake wa kukula fare' or 'ladies who eat fare money.'

On the radio show, various women shared their experiences, with some admitting to using the money to punish men they deemed ugly or nagging.

One woman, Karen, stated, 'Some men are nagging and all they can give you is to send you money to go and sleep with him at his house, eat that money!'

Others defended the practice, arguing that men should meet the bills as they often insist on meeting them.

However, not all women agreed, with some claiming that they only misuse fare money sent by men they do not have feelings for.

As the conversation continued, opinions varied, with some women stating that they would pay their own fare if they were to meet men they deeply loved.
