December 19, 2019, marked a significant day for Tusker FC as they climbed to the top of the Kenyan Premier League table after a 0-0 draw against AFC Leopards at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
However, head coach Robert Matano is not getting carried away by the team's title prospects, choosing instead to focus on one game at a time.
'In a game you expect to win and if things get tight you settle for a draw instead. Tusker is on the right track when you compare with many previous years, we are okay,' Matano said.
With 28 points from 14 matches, Tusker is leading the 17-team log, closely followed by Western Stima and Kakamega Homeboyz.
Champions Gor Mahia are fourth, three points behind leaders Tusker with four matches in hand.
Meanwhile, AFC Leopards head coach Casa Mbungo is lamenting the unavailability of key players Tresor Ndikumana, Whyvonne Isuza, and John-Mark Makwata, who are crucial to the team's goal-scoring prowess.
