Published on December 19, 2019, Malaysia Airlines and Japan Airlines are set to launch a joint business structure in 2020, a move aimed at strengthening their partnership and enhancing flight connections between the two national carriers.
The joint business structure will allow the airlines to cooperate commercially on flights between Malaysia and Japan, providing customers with more benefits, including additional flight choices, a larger network, better connections, and an enhanced frequent flyer program.
Japan Airlines, the Japanese flag carrier, operates from its headquarters in Shinagawa, Tokyo, Japan, with main hubs at Tokyo's Narita International Airport and Tokyo International Airport (Haneda Airport), as well as Osaka's Kansai International Airport and Osaka International Airport. The airline serves 220 destinations in 35 countries worldwide, including codeshares, with a fleet of 279 aircraft.
Malaysia Airlines, the flag carrier of Malaysia, operates flights from Kuala Lumpur International Airport, as well as secondary hubs in Kota Kinabalu and Kuching. The airline flies to destinations throughout Asia, Oceania, and Europe.
