Kenyan director Wanuri Kahiu's film 'Rafiki', a lesbian romance banned in Kenya, will soon be available to audiences across Africa.
Published on December 19, 2019, the film has generated both acclaim and controversy, with the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) banning it in April last year for depicting homosexual scenes.
However, the film's director, Wanuri Kahiu, has announced on Twitter that 'Rafiki' will be released on DSTV Box Office next week across Africa, excluding Kenya.
"We are incredibly excited to announce that @RAFIKI will be released on DSTV BOX OFFICE on 23rd Dec across Africa (except the Republic of Kenya). Congratulations to all the cast and crew! Our film is Pan-African!", she tweeted.
