On December 19, 2019, a court in Kisii County delivered a guilty verdict against Joash Marube, who had been accused of murdering his pregnant wife and their four-year-old daughter.
According to eyewitness testimony, Marube had attacked his wife, Asenath Kerubo, with a blunt object, while their daughter was present. The incident occurred in the Keroka area of Kisii County.
During the trial, the prosecution presented evidence, including a statement from a witness who claimed to have seen Marube and another man attacking the victim. The witness, identified as Briana Rioba, stated that Marube had been the one to initiate the attack.
Joseph Chepkonga, an investigator, also testified in court, presenting the evidence he had collected from the crime scene, including the weapon used in the attack.
Marube was found guilty and sentenced to 30 years in prison, a significant increase from the initial four-year sentence he had received in 2015.
