On December 19, 2019, the Kenyan Cabinet, chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta, approved the commercial farming of BT cotton hybrids following successful field trials over five years.

The move aims to increase farmers' earnings through higher production and boost the manufacturing pillar of the Big 4 Agenda, where Kenya seeks to establish itself as a regional leader in textile and apparel production.

The Cabinet also approved the establishment of an inter-agency team to verify historical pending bills worth Shs 40 billion within one month.

Additionally, the Cabinet approved the renaming of Moi Day to Huduma Day, in line with former President Daniel Arap Moi's desire to commemorate the day as a day of service and volunteerism.

Utamaduni Day, previously known as Boxing Day, will now be celebrated on December 26 to promote the country's rich cultural diversity and heritage.

The Cabinet also approved the immediate implementation of the film incentives package to boost Kenya's position as the film destination of choice in Africa.
