On December 18, 2019, a tragic incident unfolded in Kiandai village, Kirinyaga, where a man's life was cut short over a mere Sh60 unpaid alcohol bill.

Francis Bundi, a 45-year-old resident, had visited a local bar and settled for his favorite drink. However, as he was leaving, the bar attendant asked him to pay for the drink, but Bundi claimed he had no money.

The attendant, allegedly frustrated by Bundi's refusal to pay, summoned a gang of youths to eliminate him. The victim was subsequently stripped naked, beaten, and left for dead.

On the following morning, Bundi's body was discovered with severe head injuries. The incident sparked outrage among the community, with relatives demanding justice for the brutal murder.

According to Kirinyaga East Police Boss Antony Wanjuu, three suspects, including two women, were arrested soon after the incident was reported. The matter is being treated as murder, and the suspects will be arraigned immediately after investigations are complete.

As the community grapples with the senseless killing, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of unpaid debts.
