Liverpool have made a significant addition to their squad with the signing of Japan International Takumi Minamino from Red Bull Salzburg.
Minamino, who has been a key player for Salzburg, passed his medical and finalized personal terms on December 17, 2019.
Minamino expressed his excitement about joining the club, saying, "It has been a dream, my dream to become a Liverpool player. And I’m so excited that the moment has come true."
He also spoke about his desire to play in the Premier League, stating, "To play in the Premier League was one of my targets. I think this is the top-class league in the world; I was thinking if my career as a footballer progressed smoothly, someday I would be able to play in the Premier League."
Minamino has been impressive in his previous matches against Liverpool, scoring a superb goal to rally his side from three goals down to level the match at 3-3 in the Champions League group stages at Anfield.
He has been given the number 18 shirt and is looking forward to making good contributions to the team, saying, "My target is to win the Premier League and the Champions League, and to make good contributions to the team."
Minamino joined Salzburg from Cezero Osaka in 2015 and has made 199 appearances for the club, scoring 64 times. He boasts 22 caps with his national side and has found the back of the net 22 times after his 2015 debut.
