On December 19, 2019, Kisumu County Assembly accused its ousted speaker Onyango Oloo of stealing household goods worth Sh. 3 million.

The goods, including a coffee table valued at Sh. 360,000, a king size bed, leather sofa sets worth Sh. 756,000, and an executive bellisimo display cabinet costing Sh. 580,000, were allegedly carted away from an official rented house for the County Assembly Speaker two weeks after his impeachment.

According to a security guard at the house, located at Al Arian Court along Jomo Kenyatta Highway next to the Kisumu State Lodge, the ex-speaker Onyango Oloo removed the goods at 1am using a lorry.

The Kisumu Assembly has written to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to investigate the matter, with a file already opened at the Central Police Station under OB59/12/2019.

However, Oloo has defended himself, stating that the furniture was bought for him as a speaker and that his predecessors did not return theirs.
