Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) are gearing up for a tough test in the Basketball Africa League (BAL) qualifiers, which kicked off in Kigali, Rwanda, on November 17, 2018. The team, led by forward Okall Koranga, will face stiff competition from Ugandan side City Oilers, Cobra Sport from South Sudan, and Ferroviario de Maputo of Mozambique in the week-long contest.
According to Koranga, the team is aware of the challenge ahead and is determined to make it to the BAL 2020. "It is a big challenge and it will test us to the limit. The next stage will be to become even more visible on the African scene," Koranga said.
The BAL, a partnership between FIBA and the NBA, is a new professional league featuring 12 club teams from across Africa. The league aims to provide opportunities for players to showcase their talents and establish itself as a destination for top players.
Amadou Gallo Fall, president of the BAL, expressed his excitement about the new league, saying, "Africa's time is now and the Basketball League Africa is waiting for you." The BAL season will take place in various cities across Africa, including Cairo, Dakar, Lagos, Luanda, and Rabat.
