It's a story of love that has stood the test of time. John Burn, 50, and Lisa Reveley, 51, first met at primary school in the late 1970s and quickly became inseparable friends. However, they went to different secondary schools and lost touch.
Fast forward 40 years, and the couple has found each other again on Facebook. Their reunion has led to a romance that neither of them could have imagined.
"I used to think about him on occasion, like, 'What's he up to?' I never thought I would actually meet him again," Lisa, who lives in west Hull, said in an interview with Hull Live on December 19, 2019.
John, who works in the public sector, said he had "got into a rut" and hadn't had a date in a while, but was happy on his own. He added, "I was getting to the point where I was wondering if I was ever going to meet someone. They always say it comes when you're least expecting it. It was just amazing and it has knocked me for six really. We spend an hour and a half on the phone together every night. "
The couple's first date was in November, and they spent seven hours together. They have been inseparable since, and John has even started to believe in fate. "I don't usually believe in fate, but this is fate," he said.
For Lisa, the reunion has been a dream come true. "It feels like I have to pinch myself. After such a c year it's unbelievable really how bad it's been and to end up like this, really happy," she said.
As they look forward to their first Christmas together, John and Lisa are excited for what the future holds. "2020 is going to be our year," John said.
