On Tuesday, December 17, a tragic incident occurred in Mugai Village, Malava, Kakamega County, where a woman reportedly took her own life.

According to reports, the woman, 45-year-old Hanna Mukangai, allegedly swallowed poison after discovering that Sh500 had been stolen from her wardrobe.

Her 11-year-old son was suspected of the theft, but he and his siblings denied any involvement.

However, the money was later found to have been returned to its original place, leading to Mukangai's decision to take her own life.

Her husband, Mulunda Mukangai, stated that their children had a history of being 'notorious, unruly and disrespectful', which he believed contributed to his wife's death.

The body of the deceased was taken to the Kakamega County Referral Hospital morgue, and investigations have been launched.
