Kirinyaga County CEC Lynette Njeru Resigns Amid Underperformance Allegations

Kirinyaga County Gender and Youth County Executive Committee Member Lynette Wanjiru Njeru has resigned, effective January 15, 2020, after serving for approximately three months.

Ms Njeru's resignation comes days after she received a warning letter from Governor Anne Waiguru over what she termed as underperformance in the Gender and Youth docket.

According to a letter dated December 9, Governor Waiguru raised concerns over the overall performance of the Gender and Youth docket and held Ms Njeru accountable for the underperformance.

Ms Njeru was given 7 days to show cause on why disciplinary action should not be taken, but instead, she tendered her resignation.

In her resignation letter, Ms Njeru expressed her gratitude to Governor Waiguru for the appointment and supporting the execution of her mandate.

She also thanked the constituency she served, acknowledging their patience and receptiveness.
