The Kisumu County Assembly is locked in a dispute with former Speaker Onyango Oloo over Sh2 million worth of assembly assets he allegedly took from a rented house.

According to Acting Clerk Owen Ojuok, the furniture, valued at Sh2 million, was used to furnish the house rented for Mr Oloo. However, when officials sent an officer to check the house, they found it empty, with only a table left behind.

Mr Ojuok reported the matter at Central Police Station under OB59/12/2019, stating that the assembly had yet to establish the whereabouts of the furniture.

Mr Oloo, however, claimed that the furniture was bought for him as a speaker and that his predecessors did not return theirs. He argued that the assembly should calculate the value of depreciation so that he can compensate for the items.

"I removed the items from the house because they had already withdrawn security for the house and it was a rented premise. If they want me to return them, I will do so or they can calculate the value of depreciation so that I compensate," Mr Oloo said.
