James Mwangi, Managing Director of Equity Group, has been recognized as one of the top innovators globally by Bloomberg Business Week in 2019.
Published on December 19, 2019, the Bloomberg 50 list highlights individuals who have made a significant impact on the global business landscape.
Among the notable entrepreneurs and leaders listed alongside Mwangi are Warner Media Chairman Jeff Zucker and singer-turned-business mogul Rihanna.

Under Mwangi's leadership, Equity Group has grown to become Kenya's second-largest bank by asset base and the first by market capitalization on the Nairobi Securities Exchange.
The bank has also expanded its presence beyond Kenya through acquisitions in neighboring regional states and is set to consolidate its pan-African presence with the planned acquisition of Atlas Mara assets.
Mwangi has received numerous accolades for his contributions to the financial services sector, including being named CEO of the Year by Ernst and Young Consultancy in 2009 and 2015, and Banker of the Year in 2010, 2011, and 2018.
