On Wednesday, Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha recognized the top performing candidates with special needs who sat the 2019 KCSE exam.
According to the Education Ministry, a total of 1,672 candidates with special needs sat this year's examination, a significant increase from the 1,499 candidates with special needs who sat the 2018 KCSE exam.
The majority of candidates with special needs who sat the examination were Physically Impaired, with 651 candidates falling under this category.
Among the Physically Impaired candidates, four scored a Mean Grade of A- (Minus), while 127 scored a Mean Grade of C+ (plus) and above.
The top 10 candidates with special needs who excelled in the exam are:

- Harsh Bharatsinh from Namajanja High with a Mean Grade of A-
- Kyosi M. Andrew from S.A. High School for the Blind with a Mean Grade of A-
- Roy Kiprotioch from Tengecha Boys High with a Mean Grade of B+
- Moraa E. James from Maryhill with a Mean Grade of B+
- Karisa Lukas Shauri from Kisii High with a Mean Grade of B+
- Mwangi Eveline W. from Mahiga Girls with a Mean Grade of B+
- Collins M. Kiama from Nanyuki High with a Mean Grade of B+
- Kankano O.Simion from Ilkerin Secondary with a Mean Grade of B+
- Wamuhu S.Kiragu from Njumbi High with a Mean Grade of B+
