David Kipkemei, the County Commissioner of Nyeri, has been transferred to Homabay just days after clashes broke out between Kieleweke and Tangatanga factions in the region.

The transfer was announced by Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i and the National Government Coordination Office, where Loyford Kibaara has been appointed to take over Kipkemei's position.

According to a report by KTN News on December 17, 2019, Kipkemei had expressed concerns that the transfer was motivated by the clashes in Nyeri.

"There's nothing like me being transferred because of the violence that occurred in the political meetings," Kipkemei said.

Loyford Kibaara, who was previously serving in Wajir County, has been named as the new County Commissioner of Nyeri.

He warned that anyone found guilty of the violence would face severe legal consequences.

The clashes in Nyeri were sparked by a planned rally by Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu, which was attended by Deputy President William Ruto.
