Mercedes, the reigning Formula One world champions, have joined forces with Team Ineos, the dominant force in professional cycling, in a bid to revolutionize their performance levels.

The partnership brings together the expertise of Mercedes, who won the 2019 constructors' championship and the drivers' championship with Lewis Hamilton at the wheel, with the innovative spirit of Team Ineos, who are looking to win the America's Cup.

According to Mercedes team chief Toto Wolff, the partnership will focus on developing and implementing innovations in areas such as engineering and data analysis.

"The technological demands of Formula 1 mean we are well-placed to support with advanced technical challenges in specific areas of sailing and cycling, with a particular focus on aerodynamics and the manufacturing capability around key components," Wolff said.

Team Ineos team principal Dave Brailsford expressed his excitement about the partnership, stating that it will enable the team to "cross-pollinate our collective knowledge in science, technology, human performance and racing strategy to create even stronger winning environments."

Ben Ainslie, team principal and skipper of Ineos Team UK, added that the partnership will be a "fascinating mixture of pushing the boundaries of technical innovation alongside sporting prowess."
