Kenyan international midfielder Paul Were has been dropped from AFC Leopards by head coach Andre Casa Mbungo, according to Nairobi News on December 18, 2019.

Were renewed his contract with the team at the beginning of the season but has struggled to find playing time, missing the match day squad in the past five fixtures.

The Rwandese coach is said to be fed up with Were's lack of commitment, citing missed training sessions and dishonesty.

“The coach rates him (Were) very highly and he has always said that he is one of the most talented players in the country. However, Paul started missing training regularly and would lie every now and then,” a reliable source told Nairobi News.

Were's situation is also complicated by unpaid sign on fees and salaries, a problem affecting all players at the club.

AFC Leopards are currently eighth on the log and face Mathare United in their next league match on Sunday afternoon in Mumias.
