On December 18, 2019, the Education Cabinet Secretary, Prof George Magoha, released the results of the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams at Mtihani House.
Prof Magoha applauded students and teachers for the improved performance, stating, 'The results show massive improvement compared to what has been witnessed in three years. Our teachers are engaging the candidates better. I can therefore say there was no leakage.'
Among the top performers were Buluma Wabuko Tony from Kabsabet Boys with 87.159 points, and Barasa Marianne Njeri from Kenya High School with 87.087 points.
Kenya High School emerged as the top-performing school with 76 As, followed closely by Kapsabet Boys with 49 As.
Of the 699,745 students who sat for the exams, 51% were male and 49% were female.
Students with A- grades increased to 5,796, up from 3,318 in 2018, while a total of 125,746 students scored C+, a significant improvement from the 96,377 students who achieved C+ in 2018.
