On December 18, 2019, Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha announced the results of the 2019 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams at the Kenya National Examinations Centre.

Magoha noted that this year's results were better than those of last year, with 627 students scoring an A grade compared to 315 students in 2018.

According to Magoha, a total of 125,746 students scored grades above C+, with 5796 students scoring an A- grade.

The top student in the KCSE 2019 exams was Buluma Tony from Kapsabet Boys High School, who scored an A grade with 87.159 points.

Kenya High School led the pack with 76 students scoring an A grade, followed by Kapsabet High School with 49 students, Alliance High School with 48 students, and Moi Kabarak with 30 students.

Other top schools included Alliance Girls with 27 students, Mary Hill with 25 students, Maseno School with 25 students, Nairobi School with 23 students, Mang'u High School with 23 students, and Moi Girls Eldoret with 21 students.

A total of 699,745 students sat for the exams, which were completed on November 27, 2019.

The marking process began on November 28 and was completed on December 12, 2019.

However, the marking process was marred by complaints from teachers who were tasked with correcting the exams, citing poor working conditions.

Notably, this year's results were announced earlier than last year's, which were announced on December 21, 2018.
