On December 18, 2019, Multichoice, the parent company of DStv and GOtv, partnered with Trace, a leading urban and afro-urban entertainment brand, to launch a dedicated gospel channel, Trace Gospel.
The new channel, available on DStv channel 332 and GOtv Max channel 77 in Kenya, promises to showcase both local and international gospel music, including contemporary, urban, worship, and traditional genres.
According to Managing Director of Trace Eastern Africa, Danny Mucira, the channel will consist of 60% music and 40% artists' interviews, with a focus on gospel music from East and West Africa, news, and worship.
“The channel will mainly be based on gospel music from East and West Africa, news and worship. We will also be having artists’ interviews where they will be sharing their stories to inspire the viewer. There will be no preachings on the channel,” Mucira said.
On his part, Multichoice Kenya Commercial General Manager, Simon Kariithi, stated that the addition of Trace Gospel to the DStv and GOtv platforms is part of their ongoing commitment to bringing a wide variety of local and international content to their customers.
The 24-hour channel will offer a diverse range of programming, including SOUNDS OF SOUTH AFRICA, URBAN VIBES, HITS 30, US HIT 10, and PRAISE VIBES.
