On December 18, 2019, Bolt, a leading cab-hailing app, announced the expansion of its services to 7 new towns in Kenya, marking a significant milestone in its mission to reach more customers.

The company has now established a presence in Embu, Karatina, Meru, Nyeri, Nanyuki, Malindi, and Kilifi, bringing its total footprint to 16 towns across the country.

According to a press statement from Bolt, the expansion is part of the company's efforts to expand its urban footprint and provide reliable, safe, and affordable transportation services to everyone.

We continue to scale up our operations for the benefit of our customers. Our core business is to provide reliable, safe, and affordable transportation services to everyone. We are excited to make travel easier and quicker across the country during this festive season. Ola Akinnusi, Bolt Country Manager

As part of its expansion, Bolt has also introduced safety initiatives, including SOS buttons and the 'Share your ETA' feature, which allows users to track their rides and access emergency services during a trip.
