This archive report was first published on 18 December 2019.

On December 8, 2019, a disturbing message was sent to Samuel Katana, a cousin of Kenga Charo, from the latter's phone. The message threatened to 'finish' their aunt, Dama Konde.

Samuel Katana, who is also a close relative of the two, received the message and immediately informed their aunt, who then reported the matter to the local chief. The chief alerted the police, and an investigation was launched.

Kenga Charo, who had been at large, was finally arrested on Monday and brought before Kilifi resident magistrate Sifuna Daniel Sitati.

During the court proceedings, Kenga Charo denied the charges and was released on a Sh. 50,000 bond or an alternative Sh. 20,000 cash bail. However, he was unable to raise the bond immediately and was transported to Kilifi Bofa remand prison.

The case will be mentioned on January 2, 2020, and heard on February 18, 2020.
