Mystery Surrounds Death of Man Who Collapsed After Drinking Soda in Makueni

On Tuesday evening, a 54-year-old man met his untimely demise at a bar in Kiatine market, Makueni, Sub-county.

According to initial police reports, the man, identified as Stephen Kimilu, collapsed after taking a few sips of Stoney soda at Rangers Bar at around 5:40 pm on the fateful day.

Confirming the incident, County Police Commander Joseph Ole Naipeyan stated that the deceased was in the company of his brother, John Muthama, 50, when he fell unconscious.

‘The deceased after taking the soda slumped in his chair and his brother with the help of the bar attendants called for a taxi and rushed him to the County Referral Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival,’’ said Ole Naipeyan.

Police have taken the bottle of soda and begun investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The body was taken to the Hospital’s mortuary awaiting postmortem.
