This archive report was first published on 18 December 2019.

On December 17, 2019, Modern Coast had announced that it had received permission from NTSA to resume normal scheduled bus services, citing a letter from NTSA that listed registration numbers for 42 buses cleared to operate.

However, just three hours later, NTSA issued a statement saying that the suspension of Modern Coast Express had not been lifted.

Passengers who had boarded the Modern Coast buses on Tuesday bore the brunt of the confusion after police detained the vehicles.

Makueni County Police Commander Joseph Ole Napeiyan said each bus had 45 passengers onboard, and that necessary action would be taken, citing NTSA's statement that refuted reports of the suspension being lifted.
