On Tuesday, a police officer met his untimely death in the Korogocho slums of Nairobi, sparking a mystery that has left many questions unanswered.
According to initial reports, the officer, identified as Hussein Khula, was stoned to death in the area. However, residents of Korogocho have refuted this account, claiming that the officer was shot by a colleague during an operation in the slum.
The residents alleged that the officer was with his colleagues when the incident occurred, and that two officers fled the scene after the shooting. It was only after police reinforcement arrived that the angry residents were dispersed.
Residents claimed that the slain officer had asked for their help to be taken to hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries before other officers took his body away. The body was later taken to the City Mortuary.
The National Police Service has yet to issue a statement on the incident, with a senior police officer citing a lack of information as the reason for not commenting.
