Harambee Stars' Cecafa Senior Challenge title defense came to an abrupt end after they suffered a 4-1 loss to Eritrea in the semi-finals at Lugogo Stadium in Kampala, Uganda.

The loss marked a disappointing end to Kenya's unbeaten run in the tournament, with the team going into the encounter as favourites.

However, Eritrea, ranked 205 in the world, had other plans, handing the 106th-ranked Stars a reality check.

Francis Kimanzi, the Harambee Stars coach, was not pleased with the performance, which was expected to be a strong one following his return to the touchline after serving a two-match suspension.

Captain Robel Kidane was the hero of the day, scoring a brace, while Abel Okbay and Michel Habte also found the back of the net for Eritrea.

Kenya's lone goal was netted by Ulinzi Stars forward Oscar Wamalwa in the 52nd minute.

Eritrea will now face either Uganda or Tanzania in the finals tomorrow.
