On December 17, 2019, a heated exchange between Kamotho Waiganjo, husband of Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru, and Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria made headlines after a screenshot of their WhatsApp conversation went viral.
According to the screenshot, Kamotho, a lawyer, warned Kuria to stop insulting his wife, stating that while he was allowed to criticize Waiguru's politics, he was not permitted to abuse her.
“Hon Moses Kuria, stop abusing my wife. You can criticize her politics all you want but you will stop abusing my wife,” the text read.
Kuria responded to Kamotho's warning by saying, “some things don’t even warrant a response.”
The exchange may have been prompted by Kuria's Facebook post where he described Waiguru as a woman who has many casual sexual encounters or relationships.
