City Lawyer and Blogger Clash Over King Kaka's Song

December 17, 2019, marked the beginning of a heated debate between Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi and blogger Gabriel Oguda over King Kaka's song Wajinga Nyinyi.

King Kaka, whose real name is Kennedy Ombima, released the song over the weekend, which mentions several politicians involved in corruption scandals in the country.

Lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi, who has been a vocal supporter of King Kaka, reaffirmed his offer to provide legal services to the musician in case a legal battle arises from the song.

Abdullahi's statement came after Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru threatened to sue King Kaka for allegedly damaging her reputation by mentioning her and linking her to the National Youth Service (NYS) scandal.

Abdullahi tweeted, 'I said and I repeat...I will give legal representation to @RabbitTheKing against ANYONE who sues him for the lyric #Wajinganyiyi. I'm of the considered view that no one amongst the ruling elites or the masses was defamed. UGLY, CRASS and LEWD commentaries on society are PRIVILEGED.'

However, blogger Gabriel Oguda retaliated with a furious attack on the constitutional lawyer and his views.

Oguda questioned Abdullahi's integrity, pointing out that he had previously represented Waiguru in 2016 when the EACC declined to clear her of corruption charges.

Abdullahi responded to Oguda's attack, warning him against provoking him for a spat on social media.

Abdullahi said, 'You must have realised by now that I always ignore the many silly tweets you tag me. Why do you do that? You can find relevance and fulfilment in life without being a nuisance.'

Oguda stood his ground, responding, 'I wouldn't have been a nuisance had you practiced what you preached. Your standing with Waiguru in 2016 is what has brought problems to King Kaka now, and I will tell you whether you like it or not. Mjinga Wewe.'
